Quick answer: Hansi district was formed on 22 December 2025 as the 23rd district of Haryana, carved out of Hisar. Your street address, PIN code and phone number have not changed, but the district name has. Check every place online that still says "District Hisar": your Google Business Profile, website, directory listings and social pages should all describe your Hansi district address in the same way.

For decades a shop in Hansi or Narnaund wrote "District Hisar" in its address. That line is now out of date. Nothing has moved, but customers, courier companies and Google are slowly getting used to a new district name. This guide shows what a local business should update online, what to leave alone, and in which order to do it.

What changed when Hansi district was formed?

The Haryana Government notified Hansi as a separate district in December 2025. According to the official Hansi district website, Hansi was a sub-division and tehsil of Hisar before that. The new district is made up of the Hansi and Narnaund sub-divisions, with its headquarters in Hansi city.

So this is a change of one word in your address, not a change of location. That is exactly why it gets missed.

Why does the Hansi district change matter online?

Google compares your business details across the web: your Business Profile, your website and every directory that lists you. When the name, address and phone number match everywhere, Google is more confident about where you are. When half the listings say "District Hisar" and the rest say "District Hansi", that confidence drops. We explain this in our guide to local SEO in Haryana.

There is a second reason. People have started to search with the new name: a hospital, a school or a dealer "in Hansi district". Few local businesses have updated their details yet, so the ones that do it first are easier for Google to match with those searches.

7 things to update online after Hansi became a district

1. Google Business Profile

Open your profile and read the address line by line. Google's address form in India has no separate district field, so check the city instead: it should say Hansi or Narnaund, not Hisar. Then update the business description and the service areas so they name the places you really serve. Do not add "Hansi district" to your business name: Google's guidelines for representing your business allow only your real-world name. Our Google Business Profile optimization guide covers every section of the profile.

Most websites print the address in three places: the contact page, the footer and the "About" text. Change "District Hisar" or "Distt. Hisar" to the new district in all three. If your site has structured data (the hidden address that search engines read), update it too. If nobody looks after your site, this is a small job under website maintenance and support.

3. Page titles and descriptions that mention Hisar

Search your own site for the word "Hisar". If a page title says "Best coaching centre in Hisar" and you are in Hansi, decide honestly: do your customers come from Hisar city, or only from the Hansi side? Keep Hisar where it is true and add Hansi where it was missing. A business that serves both can say so clearly, as we do on our pages for Hisar and Hansi.

4. Directory listings

Justdial, IndiaMART, Sulekha, TradeIndia and similar sites each keep their own copy of your address. Some directories may still group Hansi under Hisar in their city list. Choose the closest option they offer, but keep the written address the same as on your Google Business Profile, letter for letter.

5. Social media pages

Check the address and "About" section on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and WhatsApp Business. These pages often appear in Google when someone searches your business name, so an old district there is seen by real customers.

6. Documents that customers download

Price lists, brochures, admission forms and letterhead PDFs on your website usually carry the address in the header. Replace the files, not only the web pages. For official records such as GST, Udyam or licences, ask your CA or the department concerned whether an amendment is needed. That is a legal question, not an SEO one.

7. A fresh post and a few new photos

Publish one update on your Google Business Profile that mentions your area naturally, for example your timings or a new service in Hansi. Add recent photos of your shop front. Fresh activity tells Google the profile is looked after.

What should you not do?

  • Do not remove Hisar everywhere. If customers from Hisar city really come to you, keep it in your service areas and content.
  • Do not create a second Google Business Profile for the new district. One location means one profile.
  • Do not stuff the district name into every heading and sentence. Once in the address and a few natural mentions are enough.
  • Do not change your address format on only one site. A half-finished update is worse than none, because it creates new mismatches.

How long does Google take to show the changes?

Edits to a Google Business Profile are reviewed by Google before they appear, and changes on your website show in search after Google crawls the page again. In practice this takes from a few days to a few weeks. Directories each work at their own speed. Nobody can promise a ranking, but consistent details are one of the few local ranking factors that are fully in your hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

4 Questions
1

When did Hansi become a district?

Hansi was notified as the 23rd district of Haryana on 22 December 2025. It was carved out of Hisar district and is made up of the Hansi and Narnaund sub-divisions, with its headquarters in Hansi city.

2

Do I need to change my address on Google now that Hansi district exists?

Your street address and PIN code stay the same. Check that the city in your Google Business Profile says Hansi or Narnaund and not Hisar, and update your description and service areas. Do not add the district name to your business name.

3

Will my Google ranking drop because the district name changed?

The change itself does not lower a ranking. Problems start when your listings disagree with each other, for example half saying District Hisar and half saying Hansi district. Keeping the name, address and phone number the same everywhere avoids that.

4

Should I remove Hisar from my website after the Hansi district change?

Only where it is no longer true. If customers from Hisar city really come to you, keep Hisar in your service areas and content, and add Hansi where it was missing. Correct the district only in your own address.
